2022 Q2 – MicroEra Power validates THERMAplus value to Utilities

Rochester, NY — [September 18, 2025] — MicroEra Power, a leader in thermal energy storage and decarbonization technologies, has been selected for the next cohort of the Wells Fargo Innovation Incubator (IN2), managed by NREL, a U.S. Department of Energy national laboratory. IN2 is a highly competitive program funded by Wells Fargo & Company that bridges the transition of exceptional technologies from R&D to commercialization.

This recognition places MicroEra Power among an elite group of startups driving advanced energy innovation through cutting-edge solutions and strategic industry collaboration.

The NREL Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (IEC), which manages IN2, supports high-impact startup companies by providing access to world-class researchers, advanced laboratory facilities, and robust industry networks. Through IN2, MicroEra Power will receive customized technical support, validation resources, and commercialization pathways to accelerate the deployment of its breakthrough thermal energy storage solution.

MicroEra Power’s flagship technology, THERMAplus™, is a tunable thermal energy storage system designed to decarbonize heating and cooling in commercial buildings and campus or district energy systems. By enabling load shifting, THERMAplus™ reduces greenhouse gas emissions, lowers operating costs, and enhances energy resilience.

“We are honored to be selected for IN2,” said Eleanor Rusling, CEO and co-founder of MicroEra Power. “This opportunity affirms our mission to deliver sustainable, cost-effective energy storage solutions that empower buildings to operate more efficiently and with greater resilience to keep people safe. We look forward to working alongside NREL’s experts to validate THERMAplus™ system performance.”
