Laboratory Technician

Role Description

  • Hands-on building of prototype Thermal Energy Storage systems

  • Mechanical, Electrical and Programming elements

  • Lead fabrication of Engineer’s designs

  • Calibrate sensors and electromechanical components

  • Automate and schedule data collection

  • Contribute to a collaborative design process

  • Assist in sourcing components for designs

  • Suggest improvements to designs

  • Document failures of designs

  • Evaluate Phase Change Materials Thermal and Physical Properties

  • Maintain laboratory spaces in a neat and organized fashion

  • Assist other team members as requested

  • Update company protocols as needed

Job Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in many of the listed responsibilities

  • Located in Rochester, NY or willing to relocate for position

  • Experience in mechanical fabrication and knowledge of manufacturing techniques

  • Electronics knowledge and applicable skills

  • Ability to multi-task while working independently

  • Knowledge of common laboratory procedures and modifying/adapting laboratory equipment for specific development needs

  • Basic Computer (e.g. MS Office and communication skills)

  • Willingness to learn and quick at picking up new skills
